A Great Day

We had a great day today, and we didn't even leave home (except for a walk after dinner). Laundry got finished. Dishes were washed. I got my new book in the mail. I made bread and ice cream and froze some zucchini. J fried some zucchini. I sorted through and organized a huge amount of children's clothes that we've recently been given from various people (I think we're all set for the next 3 years!).

We've also been very good about not running our air conditioner. I think it's been on an hour total in the last three days. We've found that when it gets too hot in the house (about 2-8PM), it really helps to just spend the day outside in our back or front yard under the trees where it's shady. I'm assuming this is what people did before AC was common. Just go outside and sit in the shade. Read a book. Drink some lemonade or ice water. So nice!

It feels so good to have days like this one, where I feel like I'm living how I want to live, and not just sitting around planning or dreaming about it.

This is J's last week before he has to start teaching again. :-( We're going to miss having him home with us!
