Homemade Apple Pie

j is going to be one year old in two weeks!  We always do a small birthday dinner - just grandparents, great-grandparents and immediate aunts, uncles and cousins.  (That's enough people as it is!)  Anyway, I'm working out the menu for j's birthday dinner.  For dessert, we'll be having apple pie and pumpkin pie.  I've never made a pie before so today I practiced.  It turned out great!  Here is my first apple pie from scratch.
